![]() WALL HANGINGS or Kalagas are originally a Burmese art form. The villages over the border in the Maa Sai District of Chiang Mai soon adapted the technique to Thai themes. Each wall hanging is an individual work of art created from hundreds to thousands of individual beads, stones, and sequins. Some can take up to a year to make! IMPORTANT NOTICE! Due to the intricate and individual nature of these works of art, and due to the remoteness of their source, all kalagas are supplied in original condition, which may include some missing beads and sequins. ExporThai makes every effort to select the best available in the spirit of quality our customers have come to expect. The photos are representative of the theme of the kalaga, but each piece will vary a bit in colors, design, and materials. Each piece is provided with a fabric border supplied by the artist. Although this is more for protection than decoration, we find most of these borders have a character of their own. Not all designs are always available. In the event that a particular design is not available, you will be advised of our suggested substitution (which may not appear on the website) before you are invoiced. Larger sizes are available, please inquire by sending us an email at kalaga@exporthai.com | ||
